Contained within these pages is a short history of England, English furniture, and English furniture brasses. There are a few mentions of American furniture and European styles but in the main this book is based on English furniture and the handles and fittings used thereon.
I have taken a century in turn, attempting to give some small insight into the happenings and lifestyles of the time, as well as discussing the eminent furniture manufacturers and the styles of furniture produced. Alongside this I have attempted to detail the type of fittings that were produced during the same period.
This is not intended to be a definitive reference but merely a casual guide and, hopefully, a reasonably pleasant read.
